For as long as I can remember, my professional life has been about helping people navigate change. I’ve always believed that with the right support, anyone can find their path, even when the road ahead seems uncertain. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with so many incredible individuals who were at a crossroads, often facing challenges that felt insurmountable. Whether it was helping corporate leaders grow into their potential or guiding veterans through the complex transition out of military life, my work has been about one thing: self-discovery.
I’ve spent a significant part of my career working with Australian Defence Personnel. These were people who had given so much of themselves to serve our country, often at the cost of their physical or mental health. Many were leaving the military, not because they wanted to, but because they had to. I met people who had been taught to do very specific jobs, roles that defined their identities, and now those identities were being questioned. The transition into civilian life can be jarring for anyone, but for these men and women, it was particularly challenging. Their skills were sharp, but their confidence was often shattered. They were anxious about their future, unsure about how to apply their talents outside of the military, and sometimes, quite frankly, feeling broken.
And that’s where I came in.
My role was never just about helping them find a job. It was about so much more than that. It was about helping them rediscover themselves, to see that their worth wasn’t tied to a uniform or a specific job. It was about guiding them through a journey of self-reflection and helping them see possibilities they had never considered before. Together, we explored new avenues, new opportunities, and in doing so, I watched as their anxiety started to lift, replaced by a newfound sense of determination.
There’s a moment in this process that I always look for, one that I hold onto as the greatest reward in the work I do. It’s when that shift happens, when someone who has been consumed by doubt suddenly realises that they can not only survive this change, but thrive in it. They come out on the other side with a clearer vision, a strategy that they are confident in, and most importantly, a belief in themselves. It’s powerful. It’s transformative. And every time I see it happen, it reminds me why I do what I do.
That work with Defence Personnel is something I’ll carry with me forever. But I’ve come to realise that this process of rediscovery isn’t unique to them. Everyone, at some point in their life, will find themselves at a crossroads. Everyone will face moments of uncertainty, where the future feels murky and the path ahead is unclear. And what I’ve learned is that it doesn’t matter how specialised or how broad your experience is—what matters is the ability to take stock of where you are, understand your strengths, and have the courage to chart a new course.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of guiding many people through this process. Some were leaders in large organisations, struggling to adapt to rapidly changing environments. Others were employees who had lost their jobs due to restructuring and needed to find their footing again. And each time, it was about more than just the next career move. It was about helping them understand that their experiences, their skills, and their passions could be reimagined in ways they hadn’t considered before.
Now, I find myself at a new crossroads. I’ve decided to take everything I’ve learned—the skills I’ve developed, the experiences I’ve had, and the insights I’ve gained—and apply them to something new. Something exciting. Something that feels like the next natural step in my journey. I won’t give too much away just yet, but I will say this: what I’m about to embark on is something that feels like it was meant to be. It’s a new chapter, one that brings together everything I’ve been passionate about for years—helping people discover their potential, building confidence, and creating strategies for a brighter future.
I’ve always believed that the most fulfilling work we can do is the work that aligns with who we are at our core. And this next step feels like it’s exactly that for me. It’s the culmination of years of experience, reflection, and growth. And I can’t wait to share more with you all in the coming weeks.
What I can say now is that this new chapter will focus on helping people who, like many of those I’ve worked with in the past, are at a pivotal moment in their lives. People who are ready to take control of their future, but may not always have equal opportunities due to their disabilities. People who have incredible strengths and potential but need support to navigate the barriers they face. I want to be there to guide them, to highlight their achievements, and to advocate for the rights they deserve. It’s about creating a space where they can rediscover their strengths, celebrate their successes, and build a future on their own terms.
For those who have been part of my journey so far—whether we’ve worked together, or you’ve been kind enough to follow along as I’ve shared my experiences—I want to thank you. Your support, insights, and feedback have meant more to me than you know. And I hope that, as I step into this new chapter, you’ll continue to be part of this journey.
Big things are coming, and I can’t wait to bring you along for the ride.
